Left Bank

Ever since I moved to Portland I have been intrigued by the warehouse building that sits on a triangle at the foot of the Broadway Bridge. It’s one of those classic old brick warehouses made of red brick and designed with huge arched windows. The first tenant was a restaurant with a bakery, creamery and confectionary above. Ten years later a beer parlor moved in. A couple other businesses have come and gone and now it’s tenant is again a restaurant and coffee shop.

“There never was and there never will be anything quite like the Dude Ranch. It was the Cotton Club, the Apollo Theater, Las Vegas, and the Wild West rolled into one. It was the shooting star in the history of Portland jazz, a meteor bursting with an array of the best Black and Tan entertainment this town has ever seen.”
